Harvest
We have had a great week celebrating harvest. These are some of the things we have been upto:
We have visited Morrisons Bakery to see how bread is made. We were even able to help by putting some of the dough into the tins ready for proving and baking. We made our own bread and butter and ate it up as a delicious jam sandwich.
We have used an old millstone to see how you grind wheat to make flour.
We made some observational drawings and paintings of Harvest Vegetables.
We read the story of the Little Red Hen and thought about how important teamwork is.
Forest School - last few sessions
We love getting out and about.
We have been for a walk up the footpath and across to Symondsbury Estate. We talked about all the things we could see, whether they were natural or man-made. We saw and spoke about the animals at the Estate and spent some time climbing and balancing in their play area which is great for our physical development.
We walked to Simene field where we collected all sorts of Autumn treasures, including conkers, lots and lots of conkers! We have had lots of fun with them since getting them all back to school. We have looked carefully at their shells and how the conkers are all different shapes and sizes. We have drawn faces on them (great for our fine motor skills), rolled them down chutes and floated them in boats.
Our Harmony Principle this term is diversity and we focussed on collecting different leaves and noticing diversity in the things around us on our walk to Simene. We used our observational skills to find different sorts of leaves and then had some fun with the streamers in the wind.
