at Leeson House in July

We started in November 2001.It all came together when we made our own instruments at home and bought them in. Then Mr Douglas found a catalogue of samba instruments and pointed out the ones that were suitable  for us to use.

We meet once a week at lunchtime to practice . In the winter we practice indoors and in the summer we use the patio.

Now there are approximately 30 people in the band and we had our picture taken to go in the 'Western Gazette'

We have invited pupils from other schools to a workshop planned to take place in Bridport in June.

Some of us played at Leeson House on their open day in the summer.

Symondsbury School's fantastic Samba Band took a trip all the way up to Leeson House to perform their stuff in front of a cheering crowd.

The band drove up to greet their coach, Mr Douglas.

After a drink and ice cream, it was time for the children to go on stage. The crowd clapped the band as they walked with their instruments and got ready to play.

As the band was performing, a little girl at the front, playing on the tams, was embarrassed when her stick (with 3 prongs) broke and one of the prongs snapped and fell off on to the grass.

When they had finished playing, there was pond dipping, a juggler and lots more to do.

It was good fun!
